Founded in 1936 by the Association of National Advertisers and the American Association of Advertising Agencies, the ARF leads key industry learning initiatives that increase the contribution of research to better marketing, more effective advertising and profitable organic growth.

The principal mission of The ARF is to improve the practice of advertising, marketing and media research in pursuit of more effective marketing and advertising communications.

The ARF does this by:

  3. Providing opportunities for industry thought leaders to debate, challenge, network and collaborate.
  4. Convening its Annual Convention as the platform to announce significant industry learning.
  5. Focusing academic leading thinkers on advertiser critical issues and providing the opportunity to publish their learning in the Journal of Advertising Research.
  6. Providing platforms for members to announce their innovations in learning, products or research services through workshops, webcasts, trade shows, council meetings and conferences.
  7. Operating the ARF InfoCenter as a state of the knowledge resource on all key industry issues.
