New Media and Market research

Hello, I'm a student majoring in Marketing and I may want to work in Market Research when I graduate. I have previously worked as a grunt in the field doing phone surveys, mall intercepts, product placement and something where we counted the flow at various parts of a mall where some of the other workers actually saw Bill Clinton.
Anyhow, I'm taking a class called "New Media and Business" and the final is a presentation on the new media changes in some part of business. I would like to do something on New Media in Marketing Research but, I'm not sure where to start and would appreciate any advisement.
