Qualitative Research Associate (Remote)

Position: Qualitative Research Associate (fully remote)

“Big Picture” Responsibilities:

The Qualitative Research Manager will support qualitative research by providing clients with actionable insights that address critical business issues. By managing and supporting the exceptional execution and delivery of qualitative research projects, the manager will help provide critical thinking and points of view to guide client strategy.

Key Duties:

·         Manage/support qualitative research from inception to final delivery as part of a project/engagement team.

·         Develop effective screening questionnaires and manage recruitment and logistics in tandem with the Ops team. (Note: This MAY include programming of screeners or related QC or other testing of those programmed screeners on the recruiter’s platform.)

·         Assist Qual Project Leads (internal or external) with execution of a wide range of qualitative methodologies, including in-person methodologies such as focus groups, IDIs (individual interviews), ethnographies, shop-alongs, ideation and co-creation sessions, and online/digital methodologies such as online communities/bulletin boards (OBB), online focus groups, virtual IDIs, and digital/mobile ethnographies. Key duties include:

o    Project set up

o    Develop timelines/schedule

o    Handle logistics (with Ops)

o    Schedule team/client meetings

o    Develop screeners

o    Partner on discussion/activity guide development

o    Check/QC programmed activity guides on OBB projects, as appropriate

o    Take notes on synchronous projects, as needed

·         Help the Qual Project Leads develop high-quality and actionable research deliverables ranging from toplines to PowerPoint reports and presentations to video highlight reels by…

o    Providing important and relevant “voice of the customer” support to the overall story (i.e., identifying and pulling quotes) and help build the detailed findings section of our reports.

o    For video deliverables, this may include writing a mini-script/story for the video and pulling clips or other supporting material to fit the video narrative. (Note: The actual editing and production of the video will be done by an outside resource.)

·         On digital qual projects like OBBs (Recollective) or Communities (My Take – CFA), focus will be on learning to manage and moderate these studies and handle analysis and reporting (i.e., lead).

·         Participate in larger-scale integrated projects with our quantitative teams and ensure seamless “hand-offs” from qual-quant and/or vice versa.

·         Desire to grow into a lead research role – conducting, moderating, facilitating

Other desired experience, education, and skills:

·         1-3 years of market research experience, preferably focused on qualitative research

·         Bachelor’s degree at minimum with a Master’s degree a plus

·         Preferred degrees would be psychology, sociology, anthropology, communications, English/creative writing, business (marketing)

·         Experience with research platforms such as Recollective (asynchronous/online bulletin boards) and Discuss.io (synchronous online interviewing and group discussions)

·         Familiarity with MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and SharePoint strongly preferred
