The Role
As a Research Director at Bovitz, your job is to own the strategy (of the project and of the story). You have a team working in support of you; they own bringing the relevant data and insights to you, which will allow you to architect the story and implications. You will partner with your team to make sure your story is supported by the correct data, and you will also interface with your team’s Account Manager to ensure that your story is actionable and impactful for the client.
Things You’ll Do
People
- Lead a team of 2-4, mentoring/coaching junior and mid-level staff — sharing responsibility for their development and training roadmaps
- Manage resourcing for your team
- Involvement in company-wide talent-development initiatives
Clients & Projects
- Lead and deliver multiple research / insights engagements (both qual and quant) simultaneously
- Oversee all key stages of the project process from project kick-off to report presentation (survey/discussion guide development, analysis, storytelling, reporting)
- Act as “thought partner” to clients — crafting insights, developing actionable recommendations, maintaining client relationships, and supporting account growth
- Support MD & AMs in business development efforts
Operations
- Oversee the operational aspects of client engagements, ensuring projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to scope
- Drive adoption and continuous improvement of standardized processes, tools, and best practices to increase efficiency and consistency
- Identify and resolve operational bottlenecks, risks, or conflicts before they impact delivery
- Champion research excellence by ensuring quality control processes are consistently applied
Education and Experience Requirements
- Four-year college degree in related major (business, sociology, psychology, political science, econ, math, statistics, etc.) preferred
- 7-10 years of marketing research experience (supplier side experience preferred)
- Direct experience with all stages of the qualitative and quantitative research process, methods, and analysis
- Genuine interest in better understanding consumer behavior
- Experience consulting clients/business executives on strategic and tactical insights
- Experience with and strong desire to manage and mentor junior employees, with direct management experience preferred
- Ability to work with teams in creative and analytical environments
- Ability to problem solve, make decisions, and take initiative
- Strong organizational, attention to detail, and time management/prioritization skills
- Outstanding communication skills, in both written and oral form
- Hands-on advanced knowledge of and proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and SPSS
- Hands-on advanced knowledge of and proficiency with Google Suite (Slides, Sheets, Docs) preferred
Physical Requirements
This position is primarily performed in a remote office environment. The employee is regularly required to sit for extended periods of time; use hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and other office equipment; and communicate effectively via phone, video conferencing, and written communication. The employee may occasionally need to stand, walk, and lift or move items up to 15 pounds.
