An EPSEM (equal probability of selection method) sample is one in which the population elements have equal and non-zero probabilities of selection.

An equal probability of selection method, or EPSEM, sample is a technique in which each member of a population has an equal and known chance, or non-zero, probability of being selected for the sample. This method makes certain that the sample represents the characteristics of the entire population. It's widely used to determine participants in surveys, experiments and other forms of data collection. This method adds validity and reliability of findings because it seeks to eliminate selection bias, meaning certain segments of the population are not overrepresented or underrepresented in the sample.
