Job Description – Senior Custom Research Analyst

Freedonia Custom Research is seeking qualified candidates of varying levels of experience for a Senior Research Analyst role. The nature of the work is project- and team-based. The role is responsible for both primary and secondary research activities, analysis and synthesis of data, and the organization and delivery of internal and client project deliverables. This role performs a combination of the following activities:

  • Conduct secondary research on various industrial markets
  • Conduct primary research, including in-depth interviews with senior professionals and experts across a broad range of industries
  • Develop quantitative analysis of markets, including demand analysis (marketing sizing), segmentation and forecasting
  • Research and profile companies, including analysis of company financial data and product positioning
  • Develop written reports communicating key findings relevant to client’s business planning
  • Work with clients in a collaborative manner to deliver high-value results
  • Present research findings and recommendations to clients
  • Contribute to internal performance improvement initiatives to implement new analytical techniques or tools

Key attributes for a successful candidate include:

  • Excellent verbal and writing skills
  • Strong quantitative skills and keen attention to detail
  • Ability to analyze and synthesize qualitative and quantitative data into client-ready reports
  • Creativity to solve problems and develop approaches to complex analytical questions
  • Experience and comfort working in a team-based environment
  • Ability to prioritize responsibilities and multi-task across multiple projects
  • Must be a highly motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment, often with short-term deadlines

Education and Skills:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint
  • Demonstrated ability for business writing
  • Bachelor’s degree in a preferred discipline, such as Economics, Business Management, or technical degree (eg, Engineering); all degrees will be considered
  • Consulting experience, experience in industrial markets, master’s degree or MBA preferred but not required
  • 5+ years of experience
