Project Assistant (Contractor)
10k Humans | TX, US
Salary: $50,000–$70,000
Contractor Role
Here’s the Project Assistant version—kept in your voice, clearly supporting the PM role without feeling like a watered-down afterthought.
Project Manager Assistant (Market Research – hands-on, not background support)
NOTE: This is a contractor role, not a W2 role
We’re 10k Humans. We find real people for research. Not “panel clicks,” not bots, not professional survey takers.
Real humans.
And the way we do it is… different.
So if you’re looking for a role where you just follow instructions and check boxes, this probably isn’t it.
If you want to actually learn how recruitment works and be in the middle of the action, keep reading.
What this role actually is
You’re working directly under our Project Managers, supporting every part of the project.
Not in a passive way.
You’re in it with them.
That means helping execute recruitment strategies, manage participants, keep projects moving, and jumping in wherever things need support.
You’re not just watching how it works. You’re doing it.
What you’ll actually be doing
A mix of things, depending on the project:
-
Helping launch and manage recruitment efforts (social posts, outreach, etc.)
-
Monitoring screener traffic and flagging what’s working / what’s not
-
Managing participant communication (confirmations, reminders, follow-ups)
-
Supporting screeners, re-screens, and participant tracking
-
Working inside our tools, automations, and systems to keep everything clean and organized
-
Assisting with scheduling and logistics
-
Keeping things updated so nothing slips
You’re the extra set of hands that keeps everything running smoothly.
What this role is really about
This is a support role, but not a small one.
Our Project Managers are responsible for making recruitment happen. You’re helping them do that.
That means:
-
Paying attention to details
-
Moving quickly
-
Catching issues before they become problems
-
Being proactive instead of waiting to be told what to do
If something looks off, you say something. If something needs to get done, you jump in.
The pace
It moves fast.
Deadlines are tight. Things shift. Priorities change mid-project.
You’ll be working across multiple tasks at once, and you’ll need to stay organized without slowing things down.
What you need to be good at
-
Comfortable with tech (you’ll be in multiple tools daily)
-
Organized and detail-oriented
-
Quick to learn and able to follow systems
-
Clear communicator (internally and sometimes with participants)
-
Comfortable asking questions when you don’t know something
-
Able to stay on top of multiple moving pieces
What makes this role different
Most assistant roles sit on the sidelines.
This one doesn’t.
You’re getting real exposure to:
-
How recruitment actually works
-
How projects are run end-to-end
-
How to think through problems when things aren’t working
You’ll see how we find niche audiences, how we adjust strategy in real time, and how we keep projects on track when things get messy.
If you’re reading this and thinking “this sounds like a lot”…
It is.
But if you want to learn fast, be useful, and actually understand how this side of the industry works, it’s a good place to be.
If that sounds like your kind of role, we’d love to hear from you.
+ At least 1 year in the market research industry
+ Professional reference
+ Tech savviness (Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets in particular)
+ Problem solver
