Qualitative VP

Salary: $130,000–$150,000
up to $165k


The Qualitative VP is responsible for leading a team of Qualitative researchers to execute qualitative studies, advance the growth of qualitative skills for the organization, and strengthen the positioning of qualitative offerings for KJT.  The Qualitative VP oversees the development of new methodologies, supporting commercial efforts, training for internal staff, streamlining processes and improving the efficiency of qualitative workflow in collaboration with Executive Leadership. In addition, The Qualitative VP will support advanced qualitative studies through client management, design, moderating and reporting for all formats of qualitative research.

Client Account Management

  • Drives thought-provoking, consultative discussion regarding research objectives and tactical project scope, communicating clearly with all stakeholders.   
  • Leverages practical experience with qualitative market research solutions (such as product, brand, advertising, and customer satisfaction) to strengthen client relationships.
  • Engages in active listening with clients to ensure a clear understanding of their business objectives.
  • Embraces “challenger mindset” and uses research expertise to ensure the business objectives are met. 
  • Independently anticipates, identifies, and mitigates client/project risks and challenges, and coordinates resources to respectfully and expeditiously address issues. 
  • Understands and appreciates different clients’ personalities/working styles, and skillfully tailors their own approach to develop trusted advisor status. 

Research and Project Leadership

  • As needed, supports insightful proposal development with innovative qualitative solutions to client problems.
  • Expertly executes on a variety of advanced qualitative market research methods, including but not limited to: new product development, personas, patient journey, ethnography, complex therapeutic areas, and applications for publication. 
  • Moderates in-person, telephone and online research.
  • Writes a compelling and holistic story to conclude each project, which includes executive summaries and key recommendations. Uses industry tenure, executive presence, and consultative acumen to validate findings for clients, and encourage them to execute on key recommendations. 
  • Flexibly contributes to project success by fulfilling whatever level support is needed, including tasks such as writing discussion guides and creating reports.
  • Works collaboratively with internal departments to optimize workflow and ensure successful project execution.
  • Takes a lead role in resolving project delivery issues, in conjunction with the project team.
  • Embraces the evolving technology landscape, finding delivery efficiencies in new tools. 

Leadership

  • Responsible for managing a team of qualitative researchers and determining resourcing for proposals and awarded projects. 
  • Manages team P&L to achieve targeted goals across the calendar year for targeted revenue.
  • Oversees the work of other researchers to ensure timeliness, quality of client deliverables, and adherence to company processes. 
  • Provides necessary support for staff to advance the quality/complexity of qualitative instruments relative to the research objectives.
  • Identifies performance improvement opportunities and facilitates resolution, providing support as necessary.
  • Engages in clear, constructive dialog with direct reports and peers to hold accountable and/or reach mutual success.
  • Empowers employees to think and act self-sufficiently, encouraging continued professional development both specific to/outside of qualitative research.
  • Recognizes their role as a leader at KJT, and sets a thoughtful, intentional example for both peers and direct reports.
  • Engages in a variety of marketing activities (e.g., attending conferences, contributing to blog posts, articles, webinars, and conference papers) specific to qualitative research methodologies.

Information Security Management

The person in this role is responsible for being at all times compliant with the KJT Group Information Security Policy and all other policies, processes and documentation which relates to information security within KJT Group.

  • Ability and willingness to travel 
  • Fluent in English.

Education/Experience: 

  • Master’s degree or Ph.D. in a relevant discipline preferred (business, economics, sociology, political science, psychology)
  • 4-6 years of relevant industry/sector experience (healthcare and/or life sciences)
  • 7-10 years of professional experience in a market research role with a qualitative focus
  • At least 10 years of  experience moderating in a client service capacity

Computer Skills: 

  • Expert proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience using online qualitative platforms, including social media 
  • Comfortable using videoconferencing and desktop sharing software (e.g., Zoom, Adobe Connect, Teams)
