Research Director

As a Research Director, you will work closely with Senior Leaders within the Movie Group to serve as the day-to-day manager on a variety of research projects including, but not limited to concept tests, ad/creative tests, positioning studies, custom research, and focus groups. You will work collaboratively with fellow client service team members, operations team members, third-party vendors, and clients daily to execute research studies from design through report delivery. In addition, you will serve as the senior analyst for many projects, including recruit screenings, with direct client accountability to deliver best-in-class reporting and strategic consultation for films across a variety of genres and clients.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serve as primary lead for project analysis and reporting, centered on creation and execution of client-ready narratives with clear strategic direction based on a close reading of both quantitative and qualitative research.
  • Oversee and execute research tasks across the project lifecycle, including but not limited to the following: design and verification of questionnaires, data processing specs and data tables; authorship of reports including design, execution and verification in a variety of formats (MS Office, Google Drive); compile and analyze lists of historical comp sets; create and validate code frames; author summaries of scripts, films or other entertainment content. 
  • Identify opportunities to improve internal processes to expedite data deliverables to internal partners and clients.
  • Support & assist other team members as needed; Build & maintain positive relationships and communicate with internal partners & vendors to ensure requested materials are delivered timely.
  • Complete special projects, assignments and other duties as assigned by the senior members of the Movie Group and/or executive team members.

Directors at Screen Engine/ASI partner with their direct supervisor to determine their decision-making responsibilities that are appropriate to their position. In all matters involving financial decisions, all expenses are expected to moderate in nature, representing the company and the individual as conservative and modest.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

This position requires a love of movies/shows, as well as the following qualifications:

Education & Training

  • BA/BS in related field (i.e., business, communications, marketing, research, social sciences, etc.) with strong academic record and analytical background required; an MBA or Master’s Degree in related field preferred.
  • Moderate to advanced knowledge of MS Office (particularly PowerPoint) required.

Previous Experience  

  • At least six years of market research/consumer insights experience; Experience with market research methodologies.
  • Experience supporting research projects independently from start to finish including managing tasks effectively and adhering to timelines/deadlines.
  • Knowledgeable of marketing concepts such as brand health, messaging & positioning and media planning.
  • Experience working with and manipulating large & complex quantitative data sets
  • Special consideration given for candidates with personal knowledge of the film industry and/or experience writing about market-focused entertainment topics from either a journalistic or academic perspective.
