Salary: $50,000–$70,000
depending on experience
This position will be a full-time Schmidt Market Research employee who is on-site at one of Schmidt’s premier retail clients 90% of the time. While on-site at the retail client, this position is responsible for working with the customer insights team. The position will report to the customer insights manager to develop and execute customer research which will inform strategic marketing decisions to gain market share. This role will include the design, execution and interpretation of research for all customer touch points including branding, customer satisfaction, advertising, shopper experience and segmentation.
The person will report directly to a manager on-site at the retail client (90% of the time) and also report to a manager at Schmidt Market Research (10% of the time). The person will have the following duties and responsibilities:
Utilize multiple research resources and methods to understand customer behavior, attitudes and demand drivers that include but are not limited to:
- Execute research which will be used to understand brand positioning and track performance.
- Manage customer segmentation research and implementation
- Manage advertising testing to refine executions and to track results for future implications
- Support the customer satisfaction tracking and analysis
- Apply additional qualitative and quantitative research methodologies to meet specific needs of internal clients
Develop and manage research projects under limited manager’s supervision to meet business objectives as follows:
- Develop research projects in partnership with managers and ensure that project timetables and logistics are: effectively managed; communicated to; and coordinated with all appropriate parties
- Execute all aspects of marketing research projects with limited guidance and supervision.
- Build and maintain relationships with multiple vendors to ensure quick access to multiple research methods and audiences
Synthesize and report customer insights
- Distill large collections of data into impactful insights that drive strategy and decision making,
- Leverage and integrate multiple primary and secondary research studies into a single recommendation on a research topic
- Apply various analytical methods to independently analyze and interpret data to identify actionable insights
- Present customer insights to internal partners
• Minimum of Bachelor’s degree, preferably in business, market research, or a related field
• Two to three years of work experience in an Analyst and/or Manager position on the agency or client side in market research

• Required proficiency in Microsoft Office, with a focus on PowerPoint and Excel; SPSS proficiency is preferred

• Completes work in timely manner and has an ability to meet deadlines
• Demonstrates extraordinary attention to detail

• Must be able to pass drug screening and background checks
• Should be legally authorized to work in the U.S. and do not require work visa sponsorship
Full time, on-site at the SMR retail client headquarters (Pittsburgh, PA)
