About the Role:
The Senior Survey Design Engineer is a core part of our Survey Design team and helps to develop customized survey solutions for our clients whilst building and embedding a more structured approach to enable survey engineering/development to be more automated, scalable, and robust. We’re looking for both an executor, builder and strategic thinker who’s not afraid to dive in and roll up their sleeves, but also build best practice engineering/development approaches to the Survey Design team. This opportunity also has a clear path to a management role for top performers.
In this role you will:
-
Deliver everything from simple qual screeners to end-to-end survey architecture for high-stakes projects, including conjoints, custom styling overhauls, and complex logic builds.
-
Build survey automation capabilities, leveraging system- thinking and Gen-AI (e.g., question generation, logic and QA testing, AI-enabled translations, and Open End Coding).
-
Utilize AppScript, Zapier, and Python to bridge survey data with internal systems and dashboards (Quickbase, Sheets) to automate the sales-to-delivery pipeline.
-
Manage a diverse portfolio of ~15-20+ projects per month, juggling competing priorities, ensuring zero-error execution within a high-engagement, EST-aligned operational window.
-
Lead interdepartmental initiatives (e.g., integrating survey data with other systems, driving action-oriented feedback loops, to improve organizational visibility and improve quality)
-
Act as a technical thought partner to our Strategic Insights and Client Delivery teams-as well as directly with external clients-to navigate complex research designs, providing "on-the-fly" project management and feasibility consulting for high-stakes partnerships.
Who you are:
-
5+ years of experience in survey programming, with Decipher / Forsta Surveys mastery.
-
Comfortable leading technical discussions with VIP clients and internal stakeholders, with the ability to translate complex engineering constraints into actionable business solutions.
-
Highly organized and process-driven; you enjoy codifying best practices and are not afraid to redefine legacy methods to improve team efficiency.
-
A growth-seeking professional who thrives in a high-engagement, high-stakes environment.
-
Experience using professional dev tools like VS Code and Bitbucket for survey development and version control.
-
The bridge between "Survey Programming" and "Engineering," building custom solutions when standard product features don't yet exist.
Ultimately, you will be an integral part of the company. You will drive processes that affect key NewtonX stakeholders, drive our growth and help shape the company.
If the profile above describes you and your passions, we'd love to hear from you!
Please note, visa sponsorship is not available for this role.
What we offer:
-
Competitive compensation - base salary range $80-90K, annual performance bonus and employee equity program. (Please note that salary and compensation may vary based on factors such as skills, experience, performance and location.)
-
Career advancement and training opportunities.
-
Excellent medical, dental, and vision insurance.
-
401k match with immediate vesting.
-
Health savings/flexible savings account, and pre-tax commuter benefits.
-
Paid time off: vacation, holidays, sick, and parental leave.
-
A diverse, collaborative, and positive culture where we invest in and celebrate each other's success.
-
Good vibes (happy hours, team projects, and retreats).
