Sr. Strategic Planner

Salary: $70,000–$90,000

Through compelling design and an exceptional understanding of consumer experience, our toys, games and programs create moments of happiness for kids, families and kidults. Strategic Planning at Strottman not only helps our teams understand our clients’ business, their customers and their needs, but we also seek to change the way marketers think about the role of promotional products in their toolbox, and the importance of play in brand experience.
We have an immediate need for a Sr. Strategic Planner to help Strottman and our clients identify and implement strategic insights across our portfolio of gold-standard brands. The ideal candidate will be able to convert data into actionable strategies that inspire both our creative and our account team partners. And at Strottman, Strategic Planning goes beyond client accounts to include:
•Developing and promoting Strottman’s unique point of view and expertise in the kid, family and kidult space
•Marketing the Strottman brand (including setting the strategy for Strottman’s social media presence)
•Identifying strategically sound opportunities for new business
We are looking for candidates that think like a cultural anthropologist, and act like a marketer. All candidates must have a passion for understanding the kid and family space. In addition, we seek the following experience/skills:
•Exceptionally strong communication skills, both verbal and written
o Communicates complex ideas in simple ways
o Ability to write with both precision and a bit of poetry
o Skilled at pivoting between clear client communication and inspired creative briefs
o Ability to articulate, cultivate and debate a point of view
•Presentation/Storytelling Ability
o Can craft strong presentations conveying a compelling story
o Revels in the art of storytelling, including the use of powerful visuals
o Grabs the attention of both clients and the internal team through an engaging, compelling presentation style
•Leadership thinking
o Ability to interpret research, uncover insights and recommend strategic direction
o Strong analytical skills and significant exposure to qualitative and quantitative research methods
o Naturally curious about trends and culture
•Misc…
o 5-7 years’ experience in research or planning; bachelors in humanities or social science preferred
o Proactive and entrepreneurial, able to see and seize opportunities, and anticipate needs before asked
o Curious and engaged – never met a question they didn’t want to answer!
o Eager to learn and grow, stretch and improve
o Organized and structured to enhance effectiveness
o Values team collaboration where ideas are discussed and enhanced
